Welcome

Aimhigher in the East Midlands manages a range of regional widening participation initiatives.

These comprise:

Regional Summer Schools
HEFCE-funded summer schools offer students from the Aimhigher cohort an opportunity to experience university life over a number of days, and sometimes nights, at the region’s universities.

Research and Evaluation
The collection and analysis of data on the Aimhigher cohort and Aimhigher activities, and the production of research reports and evaluation studies on behalf of Aimhigher area partnerships in the East Midlands.

EMSTAs
Funded by the emda, regional development agency, the East Midlands STEM Awards provide three year scholarships to over 190 full-time undergraduates from backgrounds under-represented in HE who are studying science, technology, engineering and maths related degrees in universities across the region. The scheme also provides guidance and training in transferable skills and employability via an annual conference which is also organised by Aimhigher in the East Midlands.

Your Future East Midlands
Funded by Aimhigher, emda and the region’s two lifelong learning networks (Skills for Sustainable Communities and Leap Ahead) this is an interactive, and still developing, regional website that enables visitors to create tailored progression routes into HE. Your Future East Midlands also acts as a searchable directory of over 19,000 courses, a source of useful information for learners, practitioners and employers and a repository of learner and employer case studies.

Aimhigher Associates
The co-ordination of the new Aimhigher Associates scheme on behalf of Aimhigher Leicester City and Leicestershire. This HEFCE-funded mentoring scheme trains and employs undergraduates to provide on-going support and guidance to students from the Aimhigher cohort.

This website has information about each of these projects, along with news items, resources, reports, statistics and links to our partners and other useful sites.
